Plastic Ono Band war das Debüt-Soloalbum von John Lennon und Yoko Ono im Jahr 1970, das von vielen als Johns bestes Solowerk gefeiert wurde und seither immer mehr an Bedeutung gewonnen hat und in eine Vielzahl von Best-Of-Listen aufgenommen worden ist. Anlässlich des 50-jährigen Jubiläums erscheint Plastic Ono Band als ultimative Sammleredition, die auch einen beeindruckenden Dolby Atmos-Mix enthält. Dieser wurde in den Abbey Road Studios unter anderem vom dreifachen GRAMMY®-Award-Gewinner und Top-Toningenieur Paul Hicks abgemischt.

Nach der Auflösung der Beatles im Jahr 1970 erlebten John und Yoko eine Phase der Selbstreflexion und des Experimentierens, die zu einem sehr ehrlichen und emotionalen Album führte. Beide hatten im Sommer desselben Jahres mit dem Schreiben und den Demos in der Abbey Road begonnen, und im September/Oktober fanden die Aufnahmesessions statt. Mit der kleinen Kernband, die nur aus Ringo Starr am Schlagzeug und seinem alten Freund Klaus Voorman am Bass bestand, und co-produziert von Phil Spector, erreichte das Album Platz 8 in den britischen Charts und Platz 6 in den USA.

Dieses Album erscheint als Ltd. Super Deluxe Boxset mit insgesamt acht Discs: Enthalten sind der brandneue, remasterte Stereo-Mix, unbearbeitete Studioaufnahmen, Outtakes, Extras, eine Audio-Dokumentation, die den Entstehungsprozess der einzelnen Songs beleuchtet, ein 132-seitiges Hardcover-Buch, ein Poster und Postkarten.

Absolutes Highlight sind jedoch die neuen 5.1-Surround-Sound- und Dolby-Atmos-Mischungen, die auf den 2 Blu-rays enthalten sind. Dafür wurde das Originalalbum von Grund auf neu abgemischt von Paul Hicks in
